Chorley Win GB Cup Double!

The PAGB GB Cup Competition was run this weekend in Dumfries. We’re pleased to report that Chorley Photographic Society came joint first in the Nature Section and won the Open Section outright. L&CPU President John Smith said “It is excellent news; Chorley are now one of the top clubs in the country and giving our traditional stars, Wigan 10 FC, some competition. Congratulations to Chorley and to all the L & C clubs who entered.”

The GB Cup for Projected images is held each February. Every Club may enter directly, without any pre-qualification. Clubs may enter either the Open Cup or the Small Clubs Cup, and may also enter the Nature Cup. Trophies are awarded to the winning Clubs. A number of awards are declared for individual images and groups of images.

Will Stead – President of Chorley Photographic Society – said: “Such an amazing result for Chorley PS in the GB Cup this weekend. This result is all down to the hard work and skills of our members, their time and patience behind the camera and later behind a computer screen. I’m proud to be President of the club and I am looking forward to our continued success.’

Jane Lines – Chorley’s External Competition Secretary – added “We are pleased to have achieved this double success for our club members, the club and our federation…..Everyone at the club has worked hard and waited a long time for us to achieve this …..It’s nice not to be the bridesmaid for a change!!”

Other L&CPU clubs competing in the competition included North Cheshire (7th in Open), Wigan 10 (10th in Open, 4th= in Nature), The Evolve Group (6th in Nature), and Poulton (7th= in Nature).
